IMPORTANT: New Legislation – Amendments to Part 1 of the GPDO (31/08/2020) …

The following 2 new Statutory Instruments (SIs) come into force on 31/08/2020 (at 9am and 10am respectively):

New Legislation:

  • August 2020: SI 2020 No. 755 - The Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) (Amendment) (No. 2) Order 2020 (pdf) (link).
  • August 2020: SI 2020 No. 756 - The Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) (Amendment) (No. 3) Order 2020 (pdf) (link).

PART 1 CLASS AA - NEW PD RIGHTS for the enlargement of a dwellinghouse by the construction of [up to two additional storeys / one additional storey] on top of the dwellinghouse.

Other Notes:

  • The "Explanatory Memorandum" (link) to SI 2020 No. 756 states the following:
    - "The General Permitted Development Order was consolidated in 2015. This is the sixteenth amending instrument to the General Permitted Development Order. There are no current plans for a consolidation.".
  • The "GPDO 2015 (Consolidated)" document on the Planning Jungle website has been updated to incorporate the above SI 2020 No. 755 and SI 2020 No. 756, and currently incorporates a total of 19 SIs (i.e. the original SI + 18 amendment SIs).
