The "GPDO Part 1 (All Classes) - LDC Appeal Decisions" document has been updated to include 3 additional appeal decisions relating to householder permitted development legislation, for which the conclusions are as follows:

August 2022 - Code a01457 (appeal allowed):

  • This appeal decision provides an example of where the Inspector (specifically) concluded that a particular structure does not constitute a “roof slope” for the purposes of B.1(c).
    [Conclusion: The front-facing cheek of a side dormer is not a front roof slope].
  • In the third of the above diagrams, “Roof Extension A” does comply with B.1(c). [Note: The diagrams are viewable within the “Extend beyond” topic of this document].
  • This appeal decision provides an example of where it was concluded that a particular roof extension does constitute a “hip-to-gable enlargement” for the purposes of B.2(b). (*)
    [Note: This appeal decision implies (rather than states) this conclusion].
    [Note: The resulting roof is 2 x gable ends (one on each side), except that they have an area of flat roof on top].
  • This appeal decision provides an example of where it was concluded that particular works do fall within the scope of Class B, without the Inspector referring to the issue of whether or not the works exceed what constitutes “the enlargement of a dwellinghouse consisting of an addition or alteration to its roof”. (*)
