“GPDO Part 14 Classes A and B – LDC Appeal Decisions” – 2 additional appeal decisions (total = 20) …

The "GPDO Part 14 Classes A and B - LDC Appeal Decisions" document has been updated to include 2 additional appeal decisions relating to solar panels on domestic premises, for which the conclusions are as follows:

April 2025 - Code P14CAB-020 (split decision):

  • This appeal decision provides an example of where the submitted information contained inconsistencies (or similar), and the Inspector concluded that an LDC should be refused on this basis.
[Note: The Inspector states that “the submitted plans have no specific details in relation to how far the panels would protrude beyond the roof slope”.].
[Quote: “Schedule 2, part 14, class A (Class A) of the GPDO relates to the installation, alteration or replacement of microgeneration solar PV or solar thermal equipment on a dwellinghouse. The submitted plans indicate the positioning of the solar panels on the front elevation of No 8. I note that the appellant has stated that the solar panels would be designed to meet the conditions and limitations of this class of the GPDO. However, the submitted plans have no specific details in relation to how far the panels would protrude beyond the roof slope. As a result, I cannot conclude that the solar panels would be permitted development for the purposes of Class A of the GPDO. In this respect, the appeal fails.”].

April 2025 - Code P14CAB-019 (appeal dismissed):
