New Legislation:

• January 2026: SI 2026 No. 20 - The Building Safety Regulator (Establishment of New Body and Transfer of Functions etc.) Regulations 2026 (pdf) (link).

Notes:

• The above SI 2026 No. 20 includes consequential amendments to the following SIs:
  - DMPO 2015.
  - GPDO 2015.
• [DMPO 2015:] Regulation 4 and Schedule 2 paragraph 18 of the above SI 2026 No. 20 replace a reference to "the Health and Safety Executive" with a reference to "the Building Safety Regulator" within Schedule 4 Table paragraph (zg) of the DMPO 2015.
• [GPDO 2015:] Regulation 4 and Schedule 2 paragraph 19 of the above SI 2026 No. 20 replace references to "the Health and Safety Executive" with references to "the Building Safety Regulator" within Schedule 2 Part 3 Class MA paragraphs MA.2(4)(a) and MA.2(4)(c) of the GPDO 2015.
• Note: The above SI 2026 No. 20 does not make corresponding amendments to Schedule 2 Part 20 paragraphs B(2)(h)(ii) and B(6A) of the GDPO 2015. This appears to be an error.
• The "Explanatory Note" (link) at the end of the above SI 2026 No. 20 includes the following information:
  - "These Regulations [SI 2026 No. 20] provide for the establishment of a new body, the Building Safety Regulator and for that body to replace the Health and Safety Executive as the building safety regulator for the purposes of the Building Safety Act 2022.".
  - "Regulation 4 and Schedule 2 [of SI 2026 No. 20] make amendments to the Building Safety Act 2022, the Building Act 1984 and other enactments to confer the functions of the Health and Safety Executive as the building safety regulator on the new body. Schedule 2 [of SI 2026 No. 20] also amends the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 to remove references to those functions, and makes other consequential amendments.".
