New Legislation – relating to the costs of independent examinations (standard daily amount) (25/03/2026) …

The following 1 new Statutory Instrument (SI) comes into force on 25/03/2026:

New Legislation:

  • March 2026: SI 2026 No. 187 - The Town and Country Planning (Costs of Independent Examinations for Local Planning etc.) (Standard Daily Amount) (England) Regulations 2026 (pdf) (link).

Notes:

  • The above SI 2026 No. 187 supersedes the following SI:
    - The Town and Country Planning (Costs of Independent Examinations) (Standard Daily Amount) (England) Regulations 2006 (link).
  • Note: The "Explanatory Memorandum" (link) to the above SI 2026 No. 187 includes the following information:
    - "The Town and Country Planning (Costs of Independent Examinations for Local Planning etc.) (Standard Daily Amount) (England) Regulations 2026 [SI 2026 No. 187] revoke the Town and Country Planning (Costs of Independent Examinations) (Standard Daily Amount) (England) Regulations 2006 [SI 2006 No. 3227], although these [2006] Regulations are saved for the purposes of independent examinations continuing under the plan-making system as saved through the Commencement Regulations [SI 2026 No. 169]. The [2026] Regulations [SI 2026 No. 187] enable the Secretary of State to set a standard daily remuneration rate for independent examinations under the new plan-making system and also set a standard daily remuneration rate for appointed persons providing advice or observations as part of the new gateway process, as well as providing that a travel and subsistence allowance is payable.".
