“GPDO Part 1 (All Classes) – LDC Appeal Decisions” – 6 additional appeal decisions (total = 2,012) …

The "GPDO Part 1 (All Classes) - LDC Appeal Decisions" document has been updated to include 6 additional appeal decisions relating to householder permitted development legislation, for which the conclusions are as follows:

January 2026 - Code a01906 (appeal allowed):

  • The height of a structure should be measured from the highest part of the adjacent ground level (i.e. rather than from each part of the adjacent ground level). (*)
[Note: The structure is an outbuilding].

January 2026 - Code a01905 (appeal dismissed):

  • Where development is undertaken as a single operation, then it is not possible for only part of the development to be permitted development (i.e. either the entire development is permitted development, or none of the development is permitted development). (*)
  • This appeal decision provides an example of where it was concluded that the following materials are not “of a similar appearance” to one-another:
    - grey plastic horizontal boards versus white smooth render.
[Note: On a new gable end and the face and cheeks of a rear dormer versus on the walls of the main house (respectively)].
