The cost of membership prior to 01/01/2020 was as follows:

  • £60 (i.e. £50 + VAT) - VERY SMALL organisation with a total of 1-4 employees.
  • £120 (i.e. £100 + VAT) - SMALL organisation with a total of 5-9 employees.
  • £180 (i.e. £150 + VAT) - MEDIUM organisation with a total of 10-19 employees.
  • £240-£1,200 (i.e. £200-£1,000 + VAT) - LARGE organisation with a total of 20 or more employees.
  • £240 (i.e. £200 + VAT) - LOCAL AUTHORITY.

The cost of membership from 01/01/2020 onwards is as follows:

  • £60 (i.e. £50 + VAT) - VERY SMALL organisation with a total of 1-4 employees.
  • £120 (i.e. £100 + VAT) - SMALL organisation with a total of 5-9 employees.
  • £240 (i.e. £200 + VAT) - MEDIUM organisation with a total of 10-19 employees.
  • £360 (i.e. £300 + VAT) - LARGE organisation with a total of 20 or more employees.
  • £360 (i.e. £300 + VAT) - LOCAL AUTHORITY.

Before the above increases, the cost of membership was kept constant (without any increases for inflation) for a number of years. For example, for the category "LOCAL AUTHORITY", the cost of membership was kept at £200 (initially not subject to VAT, then subject to VAT) for more than 6 years (from May 2013 to December 2019), as shown below:

  • £200 (i.e. £200 not subject to VAT) from May 2013 to December 2015.
  • £240 (i.e. £200 + VAT) from January 2016 to December 2019.
  • £360 (i.e. £300 + VAT) from January 2020 onwards.

During the above 6 year period, the amount of content on the Planning Jungle website was significantly increased. For example:

To reflect the increased amount of content on the website, it was considered appropriate to increase the cost of membership, and this has been done for the categories "MEDIUM organisation", "LARGE organisation", and "LOCAL AUTHORITY". However, to ensure that the website remains affordable for members of the public, sole traders, and the smallest types of businesses, the cost of membership has been kept constant for the categories "VERY SMALL organisation" and "SMALL organisation".

Following the above increases, it's still considered that the Planning Jungle website represents very good value for money. For example, the ability for no extra cost to view more than 6,000 appeal decision notices can very quickly justify the annual cost of membership, particularly noting that it's possible to pay £114 (i.e. £95 + VAT) for a single appeal decision notice elsewhere.
